Maui Magic

In November 2018, Shy bid her home city Manila, Philippines farewell to make the big move to the South Shore of Maui, Hawaii. Fast forward to June 2019 — Tom made a bold move from Rochester, New York, and landed (surprisingly) just right down the road from where Shy resides. Coming from opposite sides of the world and meeting halfway in between, it was hard to call Tom and Shy meeting each other back in June 2019 a coincidence —

Maui called them both for a reason.

Their first year together was full of picturesque sunsets, countless dates on the beach, and adventures across the islands of Hawaii. Tom immersed himself in Shy's culture and Shy did the same by adapting to Tom's ways. Right when everything seemed to be aligning perfectly, a wonderful surprise (a gift from Shy's cousin) introduced a puppy Tucker into their lives — his presence added a burst of joy and adventure to their island living! Every day offered new experiences, ono grinds (delicious food), and everything in between! While they learned from each other, they also learned how to fully embrace their new island home, its rich community (everyone is our Aunty, Uncle and cousin!), and the vibrant culture.

Without realizing it, they had woven deeper ties with their tropical haven and with one another. With meticulous attention to detail, Tom planned the perfect and dreamy proposal back in December 2022 at Wailea Beach where they FIRST met for a beach date that led to a resounding 'YES' from Shy, marking a significant milestone in their love story.

 

Ready to set deeper roots, they found a home that reflected their shared dreams and aspirations. As to this day, Tom and Shy are joyfully planning and eagerly anticipating their upcoming Maui wedding, and are looking forward to celebrating it with their ohana from near and far.
